Salon Soleil
Salon Soleil,
Manly
Concept 'Terra Soleil' - earth and sun. A humble, welcoming space of warm tones, texture and subtle boldness.
Rav, the founder of Salon Soleil, secured a corner premises within a charming heritage building on Pittwater Road in Manly, ready to put down roots of her own. Her vision was clear; a light filled salon that felt calm and welcoming, where clients could settle in and unwind as easily as they would after a swim at the beach, and leave feeling radiant. Our concept, 'Terra Soleil', meaning earth and sun, drew on the two forces already at play in this sunlit coastal corner.
With 'Terra Soleil' as our guide, we developed a palette that layered the two elements throughout the salon; soft, sun washed neutrals lifted by deeper, earthen tones. Calce Company Venetian plaster in a warm white wraps the walls, a softly textured surface that catches the salon's natural light and carries it gently through the space, while the existing concrete flooring was retained for its soft, speckled character. At the entry, a curved column wrapped in fluted glazed tiles introduces a rich note of umber; the earthy boldness at the heart of the concept, met at first step.
A continuous ledge of Breccia Pernice marble anchors the cutting stations, running the full length of the wall in tones of pink, bronze and beige beneath a row of black framed mirrors; fluted ceramic wall lights radiate from the walls like small suns.
The warm, curved language flows through the rest of the space; an arched opening dressed in sheer curtains softens the threshold to the working salon, a sculptural reception plinth rises from the floor, a gathered fabric pendant hovers over the round walnut setting table, and plush wash lounges in soft tan invite clients to sink in; handmade zellige tiles lining the wash niche with a gentle shimmer that shifts as the day moves.
The completed salon now feels golden, grounded and quietly restorative; a place to slow down, breathe out and stay a little longer.
