Nestled in the heart of Sydney’s well-known inner west suburb, this three-storey terrace house was treated to a complete transformation. Bone Made was engaged to create a home that was light and airy, displaying a feeling of comfort and subtle character.

We worked alongside Avenue One Design and Vista Build to refresh this classic terrace, allowing it to breathe new life. It was important to balance elements of the traditional style with contemporary design.

Being a narrow terrace, it was initially stripped right back to its shell. The new layout was designed to improve its flow and functionality, and to optimise opportunities for storage to tuck away visible clutter, enhancing calm.

The overall palette combines natural materials such as oak flooring and the limestone cobble pavers leading in from the front door, with classic muted whites and greys for walls and joinery. Brushed gold fixtures and accents throughout add a hint of the luxurious.

Crisp white custom joinery, creating ample storage, was built for the lounge. Featuring a brushed brass trim and a ‘concrete look’ engineered stone, it allows plenty of display space for oversized ceramics and artworks. Soft drapery filters the sunlight, enhancing softness and framing the views, through the traditional latticework balcony, to the quiet tree-lined street below.

In the kitchen, dove grey cabinetry combined with tapware and a deep double sink in brushed gold, added subtle opulence.

The engineered stone and brass accents for both the tapware and sconce lighting were continued in the bathrooms. The powder room was given a subtle lift with the peachy tones of vertical subway tile. The main bathroom featured some softening curves through the arched wall mirror cabinet and the round, two-tone basin.

The simplicity of the space, with subtle glances of heritage, imbues the lives of our clients with peacefulness and belonging. Holding memory and feeling with ease, long may it bring them great happiness.
